Biographical/Historical Note

The Spring session of Sevierville Academy was to start on March 25, 1852, according to this flier. The principal was J.H. Calfee, tuition per session of five months was $5.00 for English, Science, and the lower branches of Mathematics. The tuition per session for higher branches of Mathematics, including algebra, geometry, plane and spherical trigonometry, mensuration surveying and anolytical geometry, as well as Latin, was $7.50. Tuition fees were due at the close of the session. "Boarding can be had in the best families at $1.50 per week and everything found." It was posted March 2, 1852.
