Biographical/Historical Note

This cardstock photo of the Cranberry Hotel in Avery (Mitchell is written on card) County, North Carolina was popular in the 1800s as the Tweetsie train track hauled patrons as well as iron ore in its vicinity. Not a lot of history could be found on this establishment.

Scope and Contents

In this collection is one cardstock sepia photograph of the Cranberry Hotel in Cranberry, Mitchell County, North Carolina circa 1890. "Open all the Year" on front bottom and signed "Compliments of Bertha Hahn" on the reverse. There are nine people seated and standing on the yard, two children on the fence, and several in the background on the porch of the hotel.
