Biographical/Historical Note

Aras B. Cox was born January 25, 1816, Beaver Creek, Floyd County, Virginia and died January 30, 1907. He was a medical doctor and preacher in the Methodist Church who settled in Ashe County, North Carolina, now Alleghany County.

His book was originally published by The Star Publishing Company in Sparta, Alleghany County, North Carolina, with an online version prepared by Jeffrey C. Weaver of Arlington, Virginia in 2014.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of one typed copy of Footprints on the Sands of Time: A History of South-western Virginia and North-western North Carolina by Dr. A. B. Cox. A note on the title page says "Typed copy made by Mrs. Alfred Apple... Bedford, Indiana from book owned by Mrs. Ray Shoun, Mountain City, Tenn."
