Biographical/Historical Note

Willard J. Allen (born 1919) is a native of Ozone, Tennessee. While living in Kansas City, Missouri, Allen operated the Allen Art Service, Inc. which produced various prints. His art depicts the customs and history of the Appalachian Region. Material donated by Kate Peterson, who taught Allen and encouraged his artistic talent. Peterson has also taught in Boone, North Carolina.

Kate Peterson donated this collection to the W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection in 1986. The accession number is MAW. This collection was opened to the public on 20 August 2002.
