The collection contains the audiocassettes of a lecture given by Richard Humphrey to Carl Ross' history class as well as handwritten and typed transcriptions of the lecture. Humphrey delivered the lecture on September 2, 1988 and discusses the religious beliefs and practices of Watauga County church members. These beliefs were gathered during a study conducted by Humphrey and his Appalachian State University students. Within his lecture, he compares results of surveys of nation-wide religious belief and practices to those of his study as well as the national surveys' area results. Also included are audiocassettes of Cratis Williams' memorial service and of Pat Morgan.
