Abstract:

The Hillbilly Mask is the contents and wrapping of "Dress-Up Hillbilly" by Ben Cooper, Inc. Included are a synthetic black beard, a vinyl black hat, and a corncob pipe. An "Appalachian State" sticker is attached to the package wrapping.

Biographical/Historical Note

The mask was produced by Ben Cooper, Inc., a privately held American corporation which primarily manufactured Halloween costumes from the late 1930s to the late 1980s.  Ben Cooper, Inc. manufactured multiple inexpensive costumes, such as the Dress-up Hillbilly, the Monster Fun Poncho and Yoda, during the 1950s through the 1970s. Many of these costumes are now considered collectibles.
