Biographical/Historical Note

The Globe community is situated near Grandfather Mountain in Caldwell County, North Carolina. The site of much Civil War disputes, Globe was the home of Keith and Malinda Blalock. This collection provides a map and photographic representation of key landmarks, such as churches, stores and cemeteries.

 Maps are drawn with a mixture of watercolor and pencil. The color photographs include the old auction house, John's River Baptist Church, Globe Baptist Church, an old graveyard and the sign to the Globe City Beach and Campground.
