Abstract:

Jonesborough, Tennessee Photographs contains eight black and white photographs and one color photograph. The images show scenes of buildings and streets in and around Jonesborough, Tennessee.

Biographical/Historical Note

Jonesborough was the first town in Tennessee, founded in 1779. It was the capitol of the State of Franklin in 1784. Jonesborough is now popularly known as the Storytelling Capitol of the World.

Scope and Contents

The collection contains photographs which display scenes of Jonesborough from the mid-19th Century to the late-20th Century. Photographs include street scenes as well as buildings and architecture.

The collection is arranged in two folders: black and white and color.

The collection is open for use without restriction in the Dougherty Reading Room. An appointment for research is recommended.

Acquisitions Information

This collection was donated to the W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection in October 2006 by Paul Fink. Its accession number is AC.2006.063. It was opened to the public in October 2006.
