Biographical/Historical Note

Jerry Pope and Rebecca Williams' Interdisciplinary Studies students produced oral history audio cassettes and respective transcripts for Pope/Williams' Fall 2001 semester course, "Through the Gates: Performances Ventures Into the Community." This was intended to create theatrical community sketches. Includes seven color photographs. Photograph separate sheets in place.

Scope and Contents

This collection contains interviews from the summer of 2001 focused on residents of Watauga County, North Carolina. Box 2 contains original cassettes of the interviews and Box 3 contains user and archival copies of the cassettes.


The collection is arranged alphabetically. Documents are listed first followed by audiocassette recordings then photographs.

Access Restrictions

This collection is open for use in the Dougherty Reading Room. An appointment for research is recommended. The Dougherty Reading Room is located on the 4th floor of Belk Library in Special Collections.

Acquisitions Information

Jerry Pope and Rebecca Williams donated this collection to the W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection in 2001. The accession number is AC.2002.001. It was opened to the public in January 2007.
