Scope and Contents

This illustration of the winner of a Christmas 1923 cockfight includes the following description: "Battle Royal: The blue-gray loafed till they were all beaten down then stepped in to give the finishing touch and win the pot. Steveson [sic], Ala. Xmas 1923." The illustration is in a wooden 19" x 17" frame. The artist (whose signature is illegible) signed the drawing and dated it December 1937.
