This is a restored black and white photograph of Dr. & Mrs. William Hale. Included also are their birth and death information. They were reportedly from the Gray, Tennessee area.

Biographical/Historical Note

Dr. William Hale is reported to be the first native Tennessean licensed to preach the gospel according to Universalism. He was also a medical doctor. He, his wife Lucy, and at least one daughter are buried in the Hale (George) Cemetery in the Free Hill Community in Gray, Tennessee.

William Hale was born March 29, 1838 and died October 12, 1906. Lucy Hale was born July 15, 1840 and died January 29, 1902.

Contains a photo of Dr. & Mrs. William Hale that was copied and restored by Betty Jane Hylton, May 1980. A copy of birth/death dates is also included.
