The First Baptist Church of Roanoke purchased the corner lot at Stewart Avenue and 9th Street in Roanoke, Virginia for approximately $200.00 and later conveyed it to the Trustees of Belmont Baptist in the consideration of $11.00, as shown on the deed. A building fund began, and Belmont Baptist Church of Roanoke, Virginia was organized October 20, 1901 with twenty-six charter members.
