This collection includes two orders from a Justice of County Court to the Sheriff of Augusta County, Virginia to summons two men to court in March 1856.

Biographical/Historical Note

One of the two summons to the Sheriff of Augusta County, Virginia is pertaining to Samuel B. Bown on behalf of R. L. Walker & Co., to be in court on the first day of this (March) court, signed by Clerk of Court Jefferson Kinney on March 5, 1856. The second one is for S.B. Brown on behalf of George W. Willson to be in the first day of court in March 1856, signed by Mr. Kinney, March 11, 1856.

Scope and Contents

These two official documents of the Court of Augusta County, Virginia were used to summons same witness for two different court cases in March 1856. Both were witnessed by Clerk of Court Jefferson Kinney.
