This collection is two letters from N.D. Ward, one addressed to Becky and Samuel and dated December 12, 1966. The other has no date or saluation, but its first sentence leads one to believe it is to Becky and Samuel, regarding their common ancestors and neighbors.

Biographical/Historical Note

Samuel Hicks (Hix) was born in Goochland County, Virginia around 1755 and died in Ashe County, North Carolina in 1835. Hicks was one of the first settlers of Watauga County, North Carolina.

Scope and Contents

These two letters from N.D. Ward circa 1966-1967 contain family ancestor history about Samuel Hicks, his relatives and family, and neighbors. Apparently N. D. Ward wrote the second letter to expound on this ancestorial knowledge. The letters are photocopies, two pages each in length.
