Biographical/Historical Note

The Blue Ridge Community Theatre is a community based non-profit theatre in Western North Carolina. The Theatre produces one major play each spring, with performances generally held on the Appalachian State University campus.

Scope and Contents

This collection contains audition fliers, programs, script information, and cost estimates of productions, as well as business meeting minutes, correspondence, donor mailing lists, newsletters, and other informational papers of the Blue Ridge Community Theatre in Boone, North Carolina, from 1983 to 2005.

Arrangement

The collection is arranged into three series: Series I: Productions, which includes audition fliers, programs, and other production papers; Series II: Business Papers, including meeting minutes, financial information, and grant applications; and Series III: Media, which is two CDs with 2003-04 business files, and pictures of "Annie" actors.

Access Restrictions

This collection is open for use in the Dougherty Reading Room. An appointment for research is recommended. The Dougherty Reading Room is located on the 4th floor of Belk Library in Special Collections.

Acquisitions Information

The papers in this collection were given to Appalachian State University by Ms. Alma Ward, President of the Blue Ridge Community Theatre in 2004. Accession numbers AC.2004.007

Processed by Anita Elliott, April 2013. This collection was processed as part of a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission. The grant funded extensive processing of the backlog within the W. L. Eury Appalachian Collection between 2012 and 2014.

Series Description: This series consists of a script, several programs of productions, fliers announcing auditions and production dates, a folder of reviews of the New York version of Smokey Joe's Cafe, and newspaper clippings about the productions of the Blue Ridge Community Theatre in Boone, North Carolina and surrounding venues.
