Biographical/Historical Note

The Centennial Celebration was to commemorate Watauga's beginning, speerheaded by the Watauga Centenniel, Inc. President Stanley A. Harris. This was held as a Semicentennial Celebration of the Founding of Appalachian State Teachers College and Honoring Dr. B. B. Dougherty.

Scope and Contents

This collection includes a tentative program for Education Day, July 7, 1949 which lists speakers and topics; an itinerary of the upcoming events for the week July 5-10, 1949; and a program listing the participants of the pageant Echoes of the Blue Ridge presented by Watauga Centennial, Inc. nightly July 5-9, 1949.
