This collection contains the students' research, interviews, and pictures captured on CD, DVD, or miniDV and some on paper. The project was an assignment in the Anthropology 4210 class in 2008.

Biographical/Historical Note

This student project resulted in research leading back to 1911 in the history of the Mast Store, and further back in the lives of the families of Valle Crucis who were part of the store's history. The project was an assignment in the Anthropology 4210 class in 2008.

Scope and Contents

The students in this class researched the history of Mast Store along with the founding and connecting families who lived in Valle Crucis, North Carolina, and were part of the store's history, families such as the Masts, Taylors, and Farthings. Their research findings and documents are preserved on CD's, DVD's and in paper format. User copies of the media are available in Box 2.

Both a media and papers file for each group of students assigned the project appear in this collection. There were no materials designated for Group 3.

This collection is open for use in the Dougherty Reading Room. An appointment for research is recommended. The Dougherty Reading Room is located on the 4th floor of Belk Library in Special Collections.
