Biographical/Historical Note

Ruskin Skidmore Freer (1894-1984) was a specialist on birds and plants native to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. He was a professor of Biology at Lynchburg College from 1924 until 1964. Freer was a founding member and President of the Virginia Orinthology Society.

Claytonia was a journal published by the Virginia Academy of Science Committee on State Flora.
