Biographical/Historical Note

Robert Elkins grew up in eastern Kentucky and is the author of works including The Conversion of Big Jim (2002) and Watchin' the Bluegrass Grow: Appalachian Spirits, Stories, and Tales (2007). He served as the musical director for the outdoor dramas Wilderness Road, Honey in the Rock, Hatfields and McCoys, and Young Abe Lincoln. Elkins has published works in Kentucky Blues, Patchwork, and Appalachian Heritage.

This collection was processed as part of a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission. The grant funded extensive processing of the backlog within the W. L. Eury Appalachian Collection between 2012 and 2014.
