The Watauga County Economic Development Commission was established in 1984 to promote the development of business that is compatible with the existing resources and assests of Watauga County and to encourage the creation of wealth and jobs providing wages, benefits and working conditions that will contribute to a higher standard of living.

This collection was processed as part of a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission. The grant funded extensive processing of the backlog within the W. L.
