Biographical/Historical Note

The Virginian Railway came into existence in 1907. The locomotive of the Virginian Railway, #738 Engine, was built in May, 1919 and scrapped August 1954. Virginian Railway Electric locomotive EL-2B class #126 had a big motor, rated at 6,800 HP.

Scope and Contents

This collection includes one 8x10 black and white photograph of the Virginian Railway #738 train engine and an 8x 10 black and white photograph of Virginian Diesel Engine #126 and Steam Engine #507 together, at the station. It is likely this photo of #126 and steam locomotive BA class #507 was taken at the Mullens, West Virginia station in July 1954.
