William Maynard Brown of Boone, North Carolina, written in the 1970s and 1980s, along with a Master reel-to-reel, copied reel-to-reel, and user and archival CD copies of his original "Experimental Gems in God's Work and Great Music."

Biographical/Historical Note

Rev. William Maynard Brown (1937-2007) lived in Boone, North Carolina where he attended Appalachian State University, East Tennessee State University, and Fruitland Bible Institute before he became an ordained Baptist minister.

Scope and Contents

This collection contains original poetry and music manuscripts by Rev. William Maynard Brown, along with copyright registrations of several pieces. Poetry includes: When Honor Dies, 1978; An American's Code of Honor; The Family of Jesse Amos Hampton and Verite Alzenia Harrison Hampton; God's Perennial Love; Have You Been True; How Boys Make Men; Kindness; Life's Bivouac, 1986; Memoirs in Tribute to Maternal Kin, 1978; Nature's Timetable; and The Stream of Life. Also with this collection are 2 reel-to-reels (one master copy, one copy) of "Experimental Gems in God's Work and Great Music" by William Maynard Brown. This was copied to an audiocassette in 1996; user and archival CD copies were made for the collection from cassette.

This collection is open for use in the Dougherty Reading Room. An appointment for research is recommended. The Dougherty Reading Room is located on the 4th floor of Belk Library in Special Collections.

This collection was donated by Rev. William Maynard Brown of Boone, North Carolina in 1996. It was accessioned as AC.2011.033.
