Biographical/Historical Note

The Tennessee Central Railway was founded in 1884 as the Nashville and Knoxville Railroad by Alexander S. Crawford, in an effort to open a railway for shipping coal and minerals to northeastern United States via sister railway companies. It ended operation in 1968 with the property sold to three competing railroads: the Illinois Central, the Louisville and Nashville, and the Southern Railway System.

Scope and Contents

The Tennessee Central Railway Yardmaster's Log covers the dates of February 9-March 8, 1957. In it are records of train cars forwarded and received from the Monterey Station. It records the train car's initial and number, cargo, point of orgin, and conductor.
