This small collection is a program from the National Register of Historic Places Dedication Ceremony for United States Post Office, Boone, North Carolina on October 26, 1996. Also included is a list of Boone postmasters, and the earlier Councils Store post office (1823), from 1823-1916.

Biographical/Historical Note

Boone, North Carolina's first official post office was the Councils Store, established July 20, 1823 with Jordan Council as postmaster. It was changed to the Boone, North Carolina post office in 1850, with Jordan Council as postmaster. The list in the collection folder gives the postmaster from 1866 to 1916.

This collection consists of a program from the dedication ceremony for the National Register of Historic Places, Boone Post Office on October 26, 1996. Also included is a list of Boone, North Carolina postmasters from 1823-1916.
