This conference, A Consultation on Creative Writing in the Appalachians, was sponsored by Southern Appalachian Studies at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky and by the Ford Foundation in July 1959.

This collection contains the conference agenda, attendees list, and a paper presented by Wilma Dykeman and James Stokley. There were seven more topics of discussion by various authors, historians, and educators. Other topic leaders included Jesse Stuart, Elihu J.
