Biographical/Historical Note

Boyd's Creek is a community located in Sevier County, Tennessee. The area takes its name from a nearby tributary of the French Broad River. This day book reflects purchases made by members of this community between March 1873 and February 1874. There were several stores in operation within Boyd's Creek during the dates recorded. The day book is unsigned and untitled, but entries of store patrons appear to be largely from the sections of Trundle's Cross Roads and Conner's Store.
