Women's Studies collections consist of 19th and 20th-century book collections relating to the history of women and girls.

McFadden Collection in Women's Studies The McFadden Collection contains rare and annotated titles by and about women, collected by Dr. Maggie McFadden, Professor Emerita of Women's Studies at Appalachian State University. The genesis of the collection stemmed from Dr. McFadden's teaching and research at Appalachian State, which started when she was hired in 1975. Over 200 titles. Click here to see all titles.

Elaine J. O'Quinn Collection in Girls' Studies The O'Quinn Collection focuses on popular literature, mainly series books, for intended for early to mid-20th century adolescent girl readers. Collection also includes a selection of series books for boys, reference works, comic books, and ephemeral periodicals. The collection was gathered by Appalachian State University Professor of English Dr. Elaine J. O'Quinn, who researches and teaches about the literature and literacy of girls. Over 500 titles.
