Dr. Carrol Waymon Interview consists of a compact disc recording of an interview with Dr. Carrol Waymon on National Public Radio station WNCW. This interview covers the childhood and music career of his sister, singer Nina Simone.

The Elizabeth Ann Parks Grinton Papers is a collection of a very active teacher, community leader, volunteer, and mentor of young people, Ms. Grinton of Wilkes County, North Carolina.

The Horton Family Papers are a collection of documents accumulated by the Horton family of Watauga County, North Carolina. Jonathan Horton and James Crittenden Horton generated most documents.

The John Gaventa Papers consist of the papers and research materials of political sociologist John Gaventa. This includes research materials concerning coal mining in Appalachia and Wales and the economic and environmental effects of mining on these regions as well as materials concerning the American Association Limited and Sir Denys Lowson. It also includes correspondence, journals and calendars, publications and papers written by Gaventa, interview transcripts, photographs, and audiocassette tapes and a VHS tape of speeches given by Gaventa.
