Overview

This guide includes both primary and secondary source resources about business, primarily in the Appalachian region. Records and papers relating to various businesses are listed below.  Manuscripts must be used in the Dougherty Reading Room. Manuscript Collections

This collection is a single-item one consisiting of a booklet that states the history and ethical policy for the Buffalo Mineral Water, listing chemicals in samples of water. It is in good condition.

This collection is one sheet of letterhead from the office of C.S. Carrington, Bristol, Tennessee with a geometrical problem handwritten in pencil. Dated December 189_.  Rather delicate paper.

The Cacapaon (Capon) Healing Water Promotional Material includes a mailing envelope with advertisement text of Cacapaon (Capon) healing water, found in Capon Springs, West Virginia.

This collection consists of a CD of scanned black and white photographs digitally joined to make a panorama photograph of the employees of Caldwell Furniture Company, Lenoir, North Carolina in 1938. There is also an archival copy of the photographs.

Chilhowie Textile Photographs consists of three black and white undated photographs of the Chilhowie Textile factory.

Choice's Hotel Receipt includes one receipt to Mrs. Ranson and Dr. Thorp for a 4 day stay at Choice's Hotel of Dalohnega, Georgia in 1842.

This collection is made up of a typed letter to Mrs. R.L. Robertson of Roanoke, Virginia along with a brochure of coverlet patterns and wool exchange terms offered by Clinch Valley Blanket Mills of Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Letter is dated January 24, 1936, and the wool exchange terms were effective 1935 until further notice. There is also the envelope.
