Manuscript Collections

This collection is a single program for an undated Grand Concert for Knights of Pythias, probably in Roanoke, Virginia. It has been folded many times and is very fragile.

The Margaret Ray Folger Folk Ballads Collection is a collection of original and copied ballads, songs, and poetry (circa 1900) of southern Appalachia, along with correspondence with and 1976 presentation notes, audiovisual recordings, and slides of Dr. Doc Abrams.

The Monroe Thomas Collection includes photocopied documents sent to Cratis Williams and Carl Ross about Monroe Thomas as well as materials generated from the play, "The Gentle Giant of Kona: A Story of Monroe Thomas," in which the two men participated in group discussions.
