Stephen Bubb’s column in the February 21, 2017 issue of Area Auto Racing News focused on efforts to preserve motorsports history. The lead shout-out went to Appalachian’s Stock Car Racing Collection. Bubb said, “There are some good efforts being made to preserve our history. The Belk collection at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina is doing an outstanding job gathering racing history. Richard Petty donated his large collection to the Belk. The Belk is purely a research project located in the college’s library.”
The Petty collection is only one of many other stock car racing resources which are available to all. For more information see the web page at https://collections.library.appstate.edu/collections/stock-car-racing-collection.
