Life and Work of Wendell Berry

Scope:

Poet, essayist, farmer, and novelist Wendell Berry is a native of Henry County Kentucky. Berry is the author of more than forty books of poetry, essays, and novels and taught English and Creative Writing at New York University and University of Kentucky before moving back to his family farm in northeast Kentucky. He has been farming and writing with his wife at Lane’s Landing Farm for over forty years. As a prominent defender of agrarian values and supporter of the local economy, he sees industrial farming, strip mining, and mountaintop removal as considerable threats to the health of the people and mountains of Southern Appalachia. This document is designed as an introduction to the literature written by Berry and the literature written about Berry.
