The University Archives is the official repository for dissertations and masters theses. Prior to 2010, dissertations and theses were submitted in print form and can be found in the library's catalog. These volumes are housed in the University Archives. Since 2010, dissertations and theses are submitted electronically into NC Docks. A library guide for how to find App State University dissertations and masters theses in NC Docks can be accessed here.
Masters theses originally in print form are being digitized for online access in NC Docks. If you are an author and do not want your thesis made available online, the library and university have made the following notification and takedown procedure available:

Notice: Appalachian State University Library makes digital versions of materials available; for example, when they are in the public domain, the copyrights were transferred to the Library, donors provided permission to make materials available online, or there are no known restrictions on use. Appalachian State University Library makes the effort to ensure that it has appropriate rights to provide access to content through Belk Library’s Digital Collections website and NC DOCKS. These materials are made available for educational and scholarly use.
If you are the author/creator of materials on the Appalachian State University Library’s Digital Collections website or Appalachian State University’s scholarly database and you believe your materials have been posted without your permission, please contact dsi@appstate.edu and include the following:
Your contact information (including email address and phone number),
Exact URL where you found the material,
Details that describe the material (title, collection name, number of items, etc.),
The reason why you believe that your rights have been violated, with any pertinent documentation,
A statement that you in good faith believe that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized, and
A statement that the information in your notification is accurate and that you are the author/creator or are authorized to act on behalf of the author/creator.
Upon receipt of a request, Appalachian State University Library will:
Promptly acknowledge the request via email or other means of communication if you do not have an email account; and
Assess the validity of the request based on the available information.
Upon request, the University may temporarily remove the material from public view while we thoroughly assess the concern and relevant information provided. Upon completion of the assessment, we will take appropriate action and communicate that action to you in writing.
